RENO, Nev., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Consolidated Goldfields Corporation (Pink Sheets: CDGF.PK - News) is pleased to report that preliminary scoping metallurgical test work has revealed positive results regarding flotation testing of samples collected from its Pyramid Mine in Churchill County, Nevada. Precious metals reporting to rougher lead concentrates indicate recoveries greater than 94% for gold and 96% for silver. McClelland Labs, Inc. of Reno, Nevada conducted the metallurgical test work.
Two bulk samples collected during recent underground exploration work were
utilized for the metallurgical test program. Sequential lead/zinc rougher flotation testing was conducted on each sample and lead rougher concentration showed excellent results from the initial tests.
The first sample was gathered from a mineralized four foot channel that may be more representative of material mined in an underground operation and the results follow: Channel Head Concentration Metal Sample Assay Grade Recovery Gold(1) 0.317 opt 2.271 opt 95.8 % Silver(1) 90.23 opt 616.30 opt 96.6 % Lead(1) 2.47 % 16.10 % 92.7 % Zinc(2) 3.15 % 22.20 % 43.5 % (1) Concentrate grade and recovery to the lead rougher concentrate, which was 14.7% of the feed weight. (2) Concentrate grade and recovery to the zinc rougher concentrate, which was 6.3% of the feed weight.
The second sample was collected from a three-inch vein of massive lead-zinc-pyrite and the results follow:
Massive Head Concentration Metal Sulfide Assay Grade Recovery Gold(1) 1.927 opt 7.447 opt 94.7 % Silver(1) 265.14 opt 1,131.65 opt 98.2 % Lead(1) 8.37 % 29.20 % 85.9 % Zinc(2) 13.15 % 52.26 % 66.9 % (1) Concentrate grade and recovery to the lead rougher concentrate, which was 28.0% of the feed weight. (2) Concentrate grade and recovery to the zinc rougher concentrate, which was 15.7% of the feed weight.
Additional rougher flotation testing is currently being conducted on the channel sample to improve suppression of zinc recovery in the lead concentrate. Cleaner flotation testing is also being conducted to improve concentrate grades and flotation selectivity.
Consolidated Goldfields has also contracted two underground mining consultants to conduct an initial underground evaluation of the Pyramid Mine.
The consultants will be assessing the conditions of the existing underground workings to provide preliminary capital costs for rejuvenating the mine. In addition, the underground miners will be investigating accessible mining faces
to determine a plan for delineating an underground mineral resource. The evaluation is scheduled to begin on October 22, 2007.
